The Dyldam Parramatta Eels have today announced an extension to forward Danny Wicks’ contract with the club until the end of the 2016 season.
Wicks, 29, was initially signed to the Eels on a one-year deal but the club has taken up an option that will see him remain in Blue and Gold next season.
“Danny’s work ethic and commitment has been obvious during pre-season and in the opening rounds of the season on the field, and he brings a physical presence and a lot of toughness to our team,” Head Coach Brad Arthur said.
“Having been out of the game for a number of years, I believe Danny’s best football is still ahead of him and he’s a big part of our future plans.”
“He’s only been back in the NRL for four rounds and while we’re not expecting too much from him at this stage, our expectations are that he’ll continue to get better each week.”
“Danny has embraced his time at the Eels and his second chance in the NRL, and it’s showing not only with his work on the field, but the way he’s conducted himself off the field,” CEO Scott Seward said.
“I’m very grateful for the Eels taking a chance on me and I’m loving working under Brad and being part of the club,” Danny Wicks said.
“I’m looking forward to giving my best for the Blue and Gold this season and next.”
