The Parramatta Eels are proud to report the significant achievements of the club's social impact strategy in 2024.
The club's commitment to "Raising the Game" is about more than what happens on the field; it is about using our platform to create meaningful change, foster inclusion, and inspire brighter futures for the communities we serve.
Our social impact strategy is built on three core pillars: Active Kids, Mental Health, Respect. Chosen through careful research, these pillars have been established to address the most pressing needs of Eels fans, players, and the broader community.
These pillars reflect the Parramatta Eels purpose to uplift lives, create unforgettable moments, and bring communities together. They are the club's roadmap for delivering lasting impact, ensuring the Eels' community efforts resonate with the unique values and challenges of Western Sydney.
By actively investing in our key pillars, the Eels continue to demonstrate our dedication to giving back to the community, driving positive change, and aspiring towards a brighter future for all.

Our Social Impact Pillars
Active Kids
Physical activity is foundational to a healthier, happier community. Through this pillar, the Eels strive to break down barriers to participation, ensuring every child has the opportunity to engage in sport and develop a lifelong love for active living. By focusing on inclusivity, we aim to nurture not just future athletes but also socially connected and confident young individuals.
Mental Health
Mental wellness is a growing concern across all communities. Through mental health initiatives, the Eels aim to bridge the gap between those who need support and the resources available. Our focus on fostering open conversations, promoting mental health education, and equipping our community with tools for resilience underscores our belief that no one should face their challenges alone.
Respect
Respect is the glue that holds our communities together. By fostering inclusivity, celebrating cultural diversity, and promoting positive interactions, the Eels aim to create a culture that values every individual. This pillar also addresses critical issues like bullying and negative language, setting a standard for behaviour that resonates on and off the field.
Raising Active Kids
This year, the club brought over 20,000 hours of active participation to 6,000 children through initiatives such as Parra Eels Play. From in-school activities to holiday camps, we ensured every child—regardless of skill level or background—had the chance to participate.
Key achievements include:
- Launching Parra Eels Play in-school and holiday program participated by over 6,000 children.
- Launching the Parra Eels Play Boot Swap Program, which saved families over $15,000 in sporting costs by exchanging outgrown football boots.
- Girls “Come and Try” League-Tag events to encourage female participation in rugby league and supporting first time participants with gift of new boots.
- Educating 100 students and their teachers on water safety through the Play Safe this Summer campaign, a vital initiative for our diverse Western Sydney communities.
- Creating unforgettable game-day experiences by inviting children from diverse backgrounds to play on the field at CommBank Stadium, fostering connections to the sport and the club.
Raising the Mental Health of our Community
Mental health is a cornerstone of our community strategy. This year, the Eels trained over 100 individuals in Mental Health First Aid, equipping them with skills to support those in need and bridge the gap to clinical care.

Raising Respect
Western Sydney is rich in diversity of culture, and the Eels' commitment to respect is reflected in how we celebrate this diversity:
- Multicultural Round brought Indian, First Nations, Pasifika, and Chinese traditions to CommBank Stadium, engaging fans and players in shared learning and vibrant celebrations.
- The NAIDOC Week Deadly Doors Project encouraged creativity and cultural awareness in 45 schools, through free education resources.
- A trip to East Arnhem Land with Kennedy Cherrington and Richie Penisini strengthened ties with Aboriginal communities and fostered mutual respect.
Raising Connections through Community Partnerships
The Eels' partnerships with Ronald McDonald House and Giant Steps exemplify our commitment to uplifting lives. Through these collaborations and other community initiatives, Eels' male and female players and staff contributed over 870 hours of volunteer work.
