Vale: Peter Ford

The Parramatta Eels are saddened to learn of the passing of Eel #440, Peter Ford.

A strong second-row and lock forward from the Gerringong area in regional NSW, Peter played for NSW Country Seconds in 1983-84, and NSW Country Firsts in 1984, before the Parramatta Eels invited him to trial for the 1985 season.

Nicknamed ‘Falcon’, Peter became a one-club player for the Eels from 1985 to 1988, playing 58 first grade games and 68 reserve grade games for the Blue & Gold.

Peter was joined at the club by his brother Russell, and they would share a car ride from Gerringong to training with teammates, Michael Cronin and Rod Quinn.

He played in the 1985 finals campaign in his first year of first grade, 12 first-grade games of the 1986 premiership season, and was a member of the winning 1986 National Panasonic Cup mid-week competition team.

Peter passed away at 63 years of age.

We extend our sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Peter Ford – forever Parramatta Eels player #440.
