Eels end 2024 in emphatic fashion

The Eels sent off the 2024 season in sensational style, scoring 60 points in an enormous win over Wests Tigers at a sold-out Campbelltown Stadium.

Parramatta put their disappointing campaign behind them in a 60-26 rout, with eight players scoring tries, including a double to the Eels' standout skipper, Clint Gutherson.

Maika Sivo and Will Penisini each scored twice, while Daejarn Asi, Brendan Hands, Bryce Cartwright, Reagan Campbell-Gillard and Joey Lussick rounded out the scoring.

The result sees the Eels close out 2024 with back-to-back victories, following their Round 26 home win over the Dragons.

On a less fortunate note, the Eels ended the match without Penisini, Asi and Dylan Brown, who each succumbed to injuries.

The Eels were met by a vocal crowd ahead of kick-off, but were buoyed by an enormous turnout of Blue & Gold fans.

Parramatta started strongly as Maika Sivo scored the opener, but soon found themselves trailing 10-6 after two Tigers tries.

The Eels powered their way to a 22-10 lead at the break however, as Daejarn Asi, Brendan Hands and Will Penisini scored in quick succession.

Trent Barrett's team picked up where they left off in the second half, scoring just seconds after the restart through Penisini after a Bryce Cartwright intercept.

The Tigers pulled one back to keep themselves in the contest, but were blown off the park by Parramatta's four tries in the space of twelve minutes.

Cartwright and Sivo were next to cross, before Clint Gutherson scored a quickfire double to put the result beyond doubt.

The hosts touched down twice in the final 15 minutes to add respectability to the scoreline, but not without Reagan Campbell-Gillard and Joey Lussick each scoring to kickstart the Eels' celebrations.

A final score of 60-26 saw Parramatta end their season on a positive note ahead of a highly-anticipated 2025 season.
