It means so much to be acknowledged as a nominee for the time, effort and energy I give back to communities, but I get a priceless amount of joy when I see people’s smile and growth in confidence

Mahlia Murphy

“My community work involves holding free basic training sessions in the evenings for anyone interested in coming along to meet new people, do some fun physical activity in a teamwork environment and to gain confidence. I'm also a Personal Trainer for a 10-week health challenge for the Aboriginal community of Western Sydney that runs twice a year."

“I also work as an Aboriginal Consultant in Child Protection ensuring Aboriginal families that are in the system are being culturally supported with casework. I get involved where I can in supporting local football teams where I can with capacity whether that’s helping train the teams, support players by spectating or whether that is shout out videos” she added.

I love being able to connect with community on a personal level, share my experiences of challenges and success to give others hope and encourage them to chase their dreams no matter what it is because I know how much of an impact it can make. I strive to create a fun, safe and an inclusive environment when holding community training sessions.
