NSW Blues Under 20s Captain Kaysa Pritchard says his side's 30-8 win over the Maroons to take home the Darren Lockyer Shield for the third year running was a priceless moment.

The Eels' hooker was surprised during the week when Blues Coach Dean Pay named him captain of the side in just his first appearance in a sky blue jersey.

"The whole week [in camp] it wasn’t on my mind," Pritchard said.

"But it was such a good feeling when it was announced. And the win tonight, the feeling’s priceless."

Playing alongside his Eels teammates Pauli Pauli and Ryan Matterson, Pritchard said the Origin clash was as gritty as it seemed from the sideline.

"I'm pretty sore tonight," Pritchard said.

"It was tough, but we just kept turning up, and at the end of the game it was good to get the win."

"Jake Mamo deserved the man of the match, good on him."
