13 of the Dyldam Parramatta Eels' Holden Cup players have attended the NRL 2014 Rookie Camp over the weekend, held at the University of Western Sydneys Hawksebury campus.

More than 90 players from the Sea Eagles, Panthers, Tigers, Roosters and Bulldogs were present for the weekend camp, which aimed at developing the Under 20s players transitioning into the NRL squad.

The University of Western Sydney has been really supportive of rugby league, and theyre the latest university to join our graduates elite program, NRL Senior Welfare and Education Manager Paul Heptonstall said.

I think exposing the guys to an institution like UWS tries to make them feel comfortable in that environment, and show that attending university or doing at trade are possible.

The players were put through training in areas including media, cultural awareness, drugs and alcohol, finance and gambling, respectful relationships, career development and establishing their personal brand.
