At the Pirtek Parramatta Eels home game, our charity partner Westmead Hospital, brought out one of our smaller supporters to take the ball out for the match against Penrith.
Lily Tompkin, age 6, has been an Eels fan her whole life and with a family of Eels supporters, often makes the 7-hour drive from their home in central NSW to watch the team play.
After open-heart surgery at just 11 weeks, Lily surprised doctors by getting past the three month mark and is now growing stronger and taller as she gets older.
Lily ran out on the field with the ball to hand to the players as they came out for the Round 18 clash. A truly memorable moment for the young fan, mother Amanda tells us that she hasnt stopped talking about the experience.
She loved it. It was the best night, simply unbelievable.
Along with older siblings, Jade and Chantelle, Lily got photos with 11 of the players but was extra keen to wait around and meet her favourite player, Fuifui Moimoi, whose name she calls out as soon as he is mentioned.
The players took the time out to sign her jersey and have a talk. The family were especially grateful to Ricky Stuart and Nathan Hindmarsh for taking the time to talk to them.
They all went above and beyond. Everyone at the club was really great, it was such a wonderful night."
