CONGRATULATIONS OMER SULEJMANOVIC – EELS WORLDWIDE WINNER FOR OCTOBER 12.48pm, Tuesday 4 November 2008
Omer Sulejmanovic of Sarajevo, Bosnia & Herzegovina, has taken out Eels Worldwide for October, picking up an Eels training shirt signed by halfback and guest judge Brett Finch.
Finch was blown away by the dedication shown by the 16 year old, who became a supporter of the Eels through an Australian cousin despite having never set foot in Australia.
“That’s keen isn’t it,” Finch said.
“Not only does it take great effort to find out about the Eels from so far away, but Omer even goes to the lengths of getting games sent over to him in the post.
“It just goes to show what some people will do to support their team.”

PIRTEK PARRAMATTA EELS Eels Worldwide Questionnaire
NAME: Omer Sulejmanovic
AGE: 16
OCCUPATION: Student
CURRENT LOCATION: Sarajevo, Bosnia & Herzegovina
WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO MOVE TO/LIVE IN YOUR CURRENT LOCATION: I was born in Sarajevo.
LENGTH OF TIME SPENT IN CURRENT LOCATION: Since I was born in 1992.
WHERE WERE YOU BORN: In Sarajevo, the capital city of Bosnia & Herzegovina.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN AN EELS SUPPORTER: Since 1999.
WHO/WHAT MADE YOU AN EELS SUPPORTER: My Australian-born first cousin visited his relatives in Bosnia and upon meeting me he told me about rugby league and the Eels. Since I watched one match of rugby league, I’ve loved it.
DO YOU GET TO SEE THE EELS PLAY AND IF SO HOW: Nearly never. I get results from NRL.com and watch some highlights here and there from YouTube or ParraTV. Sometimes my cousin sends over DVDs of Eels matches for me to watch.
HOW HARD IS IT SUPPORTING THE EELS FROM WHERE YOU LIVE: Extremely hard. Not only is my country poor and obscure and in the middle of south-eastern Europe, but there is absolutely no way I can watch any matches on TV at all. There is also no news coverage. The country is dominated by football (soccer) and rugby league is unheard of.
WHAT DO YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT WHERE YOU LIVE: Well it is beautiful. So serene. Rolling mountains and hills, beautiful forests, rivers and lakes. Religious and cultural landmarks that are hundreds of years old. Such a beautiful place Bosnia & Herzegovina is.
WHEN IS YOUR NEXT VISIT TO PARRAMATTA STADIUM PLANNED: Hopefully at least once before I die! I have never been to Australia, let alone Parramatta Stadium... but I hope to visit once in my lifetime.
