WENTY READY TO FIRE AGAINST JETS IN GRAND FINAL
1.15pm, Thursday 2 October 2008

Just eighty minutes stands between the Wentworthville Magpies and the VB NSW Cup title ahead of Sunday’s Grand Final clash with Newtown at ANZ Stadium.

Coach Rip Taylor has kept the faith for the decider, naming an unchanged team to the one which knocked out Manly in a grueling preliminary final encounter at the weekend.

Magpies skipper James Maloney was instrumental in last week’s victory, playing the match despite suffering an ankle injury at training during the week, and he’s expected to be 100% for the Grand Final.

The Magpies – the Eels NSW Cup affiliate – will be looking to continue Parramatta’s recent run of form in the old Premier League, the Eels triumphant in the past three Grand Finals, including the 2007 encounter with Taylor at the help.

Sunday’s match is the first on Grand Final day, kicking off at 12.15pm.
