EELS WORLDWIDE #1 – ALAN & ZOE CLARK 2.30pm, Wednesday 1 October 2008
Thank you to Alan & Zoe Clark of the Cocos (Keeling) Islands in the Indian Ocean, the father & daughter team becoming our first “Eels Worldwide” entrants!
Alan & Zoe have lived on the remote Indian Ocean territory for the past five years after relocating from Western Australia. Their link to the Eels stretches back to Alan’s formative years in the Hills District, which kicked off a life long devotion to the team.

NAME/S: Alan & Zoe Clark
AGE/S: 43 & 10
OCCUPATION: Director of Technical Services Shire of Cocos Islands / Student Cocos Islands District High School
CURRENT LOCATION: West Island, Cocos (Keeling) Islands, 12.26 degrees South / 96.88 degrees East
WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO MOVE TO/LIVE IN YOUR CURRENT LOCATION: To further advance my Career
LENGTH OF TIME SPENT IN CURRENT LOCATION: Our small family has been here for the last 5 years
WHERE WERE YOU BORN: Hornsby Hospital N.S.W, grew up in Baulkham Hills. Our family left the Hills District in 1975 for Western Australia.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN AN EELS SUPPORTER: Since 1973
WHO/WHAT MADE YOU AN EELS SUPPORTER: In 1973 my little league team “Hills District” were Undefeated Premiers and got to play at Cumberland Oval at half time in a final between St George and Parramatta.
DO YOU GET TO SEE THE EELS PLAY AND IF SO, HOW: Since 1975 I have only been able to watch the Eels on T.V. Now I get to share that experience with my daughter. We see maybe 5 games a year that are televised.
HOW HARD IS IT SUPPORTING THE EELS FROM WHERE YOU LIVE: Out on Cocos everyone knows I follow Rugby League and not “aerial ping pong” and when the games are on I’m often on my own. Only this year have I resorted to the internet to quench my thirst and occasionally send my support to the Club via email.
WHAT DO YOU MOST LIKE ABOUT WHERE YOU LIVE: The isolation has its benefits in that you don’t get mixed up in the hustle & bustle of crowded streets, shops and barking dogs. There are no dogs on the Islands. I’m not a doggy hater, not even blue and white ones, but it is just fantastic to have no dogs. Apart from that and the deep sparkling tropical waters, sandy beaches and the great community who live here, I can’t see any other reason not to be here.
WHEN IS YOUR NEXT VISIT TO PARRAMATTA STADIUM PLANNED: I’d have to say that it is in the near future. My brother and his family live over ‘there’ so it is a good excuse to go and see them.
Thanks to Alan & Zoe for their fascinating entry.
Remember, the best entry recieved each month will recieve something from the Eels merchandise cupboard so don't delay, send in your entry today!!
