The Pirtek Parramatta Eels are set to make another early season trip across the Tasman, with the new NRL draw released today seeing them slated to play preliminary finalists the New Zealand Warriors in round one of the 2009 Telstra Premiership season.

The Eels first home game will be against the Canberra Raiders in round three, following on from away clashes with the Warriors and South Sydney in rounds one and two.

The Eels play six of their first eight matches in Sydney ahead of a round nine bye, with four of those games – against the Raiders (R3), Dragons (R5), Bulldogs (R6) and Cowboys (R8) on home turf.

The Eels other bye for the season comes in round 15.

Auckland (R1), Brisbane (R7), Newcastle (R13), & Gold Coast (R18) are the Eels only “road” fixtures for the season, while they also have a heavily localised run home, with all games from round 19 onwards being played in Sydney including four at home.
